Coleman Schoessow draws colorful, abstract, steam-of-consciousness art with ink on canvas panel or illustration board. In 2013, Coleman was diagnosed with a brain tumor. During treatment, which included two brain surgeries, chemo and radiation, he used art as a form of relaxation and meditation to help soothe his nerves. Coleman's drawings had both a healing value and an unusual style that, over time, became ever increasing in style and complexity.
Art has played a huge role in his recovery, and he now leads a healthy, active lifestyle. His story has been featured at M.D. Anderson several times.
He uses a fine pen and Prismacolor markers to create highly detailed, abstract drawings with bold coloring. His art is vibrant and non-objective, with interesting details that allow for viewer interpretation.
