For almost thirty years I was an art teacher by day and a mixed media/paper assemblage artist by night. My current work, creating vintage seasonal ornament wreaths and table-toppers, grew out of my passion for collecting 1950’s holiday décor. I love collecting vintage treasures and trinkets to transform into new/old creations. I load my workspace with vintage ornaments, tinsel, vintage jewelry, and miscellaneous kitschy items, and let the pieces evolve. Among the many vintage ornaments I create with are Polish Indents, flocked and glittered Shiny Brites, tinsel, bottle brush trees and, my absolute favorite, Christopher Radko figurals. Recently I have begun to add vintage rhinestone earrings, broaches, bracelets, and necklaces to my pieces. I have always believed we are given gifts in life and how we respond to these gifts controls our destiny. Art for me is more than a subject, more than an ideology, or a picture in a book. It is truly a life journey. My artistic journey from traditional 2D mixed media to mixed media assemblage has seemed a logical transition. I strive to make each piece whimsical, colorful, and always over-the-top! My motto is: nothing is off limits!
